History in the Jordan Valley: A new agricultural moshav established after more than 20 years

Moshav Batron in the Jordan Valley was inaugurated today, with 20 families settling the land as part of the "Otef Israel" project of the Hashomer Hachadash organization. The ceremony was held in the presence of the founding core, public figures, and social leadership. CEO of Hashomer Hachadash, Yoel Zilberman, said the establishment is "the tip of the iceberg" of a broader project to establish communities along the eastern border, emphasizing the security need for settlement on the borders after October 7.

Moshav Batron, a new agricultural moshav, was inaugurated today (Thursday) in the Jordan Valley, more than 20 years since the last new agricultural moshav was established in the area. About 20 families settled the land in Batron, forming the founding core of the moshav, after a process that took over a year. The ceremony was held in the presence of the founding core, members of the Hashomer Hachadash organization, public figures, and social leadership. CEO and founder of Hashomer Hachadash, Yoel Zilberman, said that the establishment of Batron is "the tip of the iceberg" of a larger project called "Otef Israel," under which communities will be established along the eastern border. Zilberman added that "after October 7, everyone understands that establishing communities on the borders is a top security necessity for the future of Israel." Chairman of KKL-JNF, Eyal Ostinsky, called the event "an amazing moment" and "Zionism above all." Head of the Jordan Valley Regional Council, David Elhayani, defined the settlement as "a historic moment for the Jordan Valley and the entire State of Israel," emphasizing the strengthening of settlement, security, and hold on the country's eastern border. Haim Taib, president and founder of the Taib Foundation, said that after October 7, everyone understood anew how much settlement and agriculture are part of the resilience of the State of Israel.
