Israeli airline Israir has received a license to operate direct flights to the United States, marking a significant step for the company and Israeli aviation as a whole. This became possible after the US Civil Aviation Authority approved the operational characteristics of the new wide-body Airbus A330. The company invested about $85 million in this process. Now Israir will be able to independently operate long-haul flights using its own aircraft and crews. Following the opening of the American route, the company plans to expand its flight geography to Far East countries, including Japan, Thailand, and Hong Kong. Currently, only two local companies—El Al and Arkia—operate flights between Israel and the US, as American carriers (American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines) have not resumed regular air service with Israel. Israir's entry into this route will intensify competition and increase the number of available seats. Transport Minister Miri Regev congratulated the company on this achievement, noting that it is important news for Israeli aviation and passengers.
