High school matriculation exams return to Gaza halls after 3-year hiatus

Today, Saturday, the second session of the high school matriculation exam began in Gaza with the participation of about 20,000 students, after a three-year hiatus due to the war. The Ministry of Education confirmed that it had prepared the conditions for holding the exams in person despite the challenges, in an effort to restore the regularity of the educational process.

Today, Saturday, August 15, 2026, the second session of the high school matriculation exam began in the governorates of the homeland, with the participation of about 20,000 male and female students, including students applying from outside the homeland. Students in the Gaza Strip are taking the exam in person and on paper inside the designated exam halls, after a three-year hiatus due to the genocidal war that the Strip suffered, and the exceptional circumstances it left behind that cast a shadow over various aspects of the educational process. In parallel, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education prepared the necessary conditions for holding the exams in person in the Gaza Strip, despite the challenges and difficult circumstances, in an effort to restore the regularity of the high school matriculation exams and support the recovery path of the educational and learning process. Through holding the exams in person, the Ministry seeks to ensure the right of students to take the exam in an organized and as safe an environment as possible, which contributes to restoring the normal course of the educational process in the Strip.
