High Likelihood of Attack: Government to Extend Special Situation in the Home Front

The Defense Ministry requested this evening (Saturday) to extend the validity of the declaration of a special situation in the home front across the entire country until August 11, subject to the approval of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee. The current declaration is set to expire on Tuesday. The document submitted to the government stated that despite the ceasefire declared regarding the fighting in Iran and the agreement signed with Lebanon, uncertainty still prevails in both arenas. It was also noted that "as of this hour, various-scale fire is being carried out from Iran towards different countries in the Middle East region." According to security assessments, there is still a high likelihood of an attack on the civilian population. The Defense Ministry notes that currently there are no active instructions from the Home Front Command for the civilian population, but it may be necessary to renew them. The economic impact of extending the declaration is expected to be negligible, and if a substantial change in security circumstances occurs, the declaration can be canceled or reduced.
