Herzog on Gaza Weapons Disarmament Deal: 'This Could Be a Breakthrough - If It Actually Happens'

In an interview with Fox News over the weekend, President Isaac Herzog addressed several pressing political issues. He said that the dismissal of the chief prosecutor at the Hague criminal court, Karim Khan, does justice to the woman who was attacked, and called for the case against Prime Minister Netanyahu, former Defense Minister Gallant, and other senior officials to be dropped. Herzog claimed that Khan submitted the arrest warrant requests to divert attention from the allegations against him. On US relations, the president praised Trump's support for Israel and credited him with helping return 255 hostages. He attacked New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, calling him a representative of hate and antisemitism. On Iran, he said the regime spreads terrorism worldwide and poses a strategic threat. Regarding Gaza, he said Hamas's weapons disarmament plan 'could be a significant breakthrough - if it happens,' and stressed that Hamas cannot rule Gaza.
