According to Bousi, Winter turned down an offer for a high spot on the list, and Netanyahu most wants Winter not to run independently. The prime minister's associates fear that Winter's independent run could take votes from the right-wing camp and lead to a loss of mandates. In private conversations, Netanyahu warned that Winter could either burn right-wing votes or hand them over to a government led by Eisenkot, Bennett, and Yair Golan. Right-wing activists are trying to promote a merger of lists, including a possible merger of Bezalel Smotrich with Moshe Feiglin, as well as cooperation with Winter. Winter himself refuses to join a party with those he believes are linked to the October 7 failure and rules out cooperation with Gilad Erdan.
