Hebrew University Among Top 100 Universities Worldwide
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 89th in the 2026 Shanghai Ranking, one of the most trusted rankings in academia. The ranking evaluates about 2,500 institutions based on scientific publications and award winners. President Prof. Tamir Shefer welcomed the achievement, saying it attests to the university's academic excellence and international standing.
The Hebrew University of Jerusalem ranked 89th in the 2026 Shanghai Ranking, published today (Saturday). The ranking, considered one of the most important in academia, evaluates about 2,500 higher education institutions based on indicators such as the volume and quality of scientific publications and the number of Nobel and Fields Medal laureates among faculty and alumni. The university stated that being in the top 100 list attests to the quality of research and the work of its faculty. President Prof. Tamir Shefer said the ranking is proven evidence of the university's academic excellence and international standing, adding that as it approaches its second century, the university looks forward and continues to lead groundbreaking science. He emphasized the duty to continue solidifying its place at the top of global academia.
