The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip warned of the worsening crisis of a shortage of generator oil in hospitals, confirming that the crisis threatens the continued operation of generators to cover the daily electricity needs, and may lead to more of them going out of service. The Director General of Engineering and Maintenance at the Ministry of Health, Engineer Mazen al-Araishi, said on Sunday that the limited quantities of oil allowed to be brought in during the past period were "emergency" and do not meet the operational requirements and necessary technical follow-up procedures. Al-Araishi explained that a number of generators in hospitals urgently need oil changes, warning that delaying this exposes them to technical and mechanical complications that may lead to their stoppage. He stated that the monthly need for generator oil reaches 2,500 liters, noting that the past few days have seen a number of generators stop due to the lack of oil, spare parts, and sufficient fuel quantities. He added that the remaining generators in hospitals operate around the clock under difficult technical and mechanical conditions and cannot cover the needs of vital and life-saving departments. The Ministry of Health called on all relevant parties and international organizations to urgently intervene to bring in emergency supplies of oil and spare parts.
