He photographed a quad bike that invaded his pasture - and was attacked with a club in front of his grandson
Efraim Halfala (65), a farmer from Sde Eliezer, went on a patrol with his five-year-old grandson, spotted a suspicious quad bike and photographed it. After refusing to delete the photo, he was beaten with a club in the chest and back in front of the child. The attackers, masked and speaking with an Arabic accent, chased him for 4 km until he reached a military base. The police opened an investigation.
Last Thursday, August 20, 2026, at approximately 5:15 PM, Efraim Halfala (65), a cattle farmer from Moshav Sde Eliezer in the Upper Galilee, went on a supervisory patrol of his pastures together with his five-year-old grandson. During the patrol, Halfala noticed a black quad bike parked among the bushes, with its license plate folded. Due to concerns about cattle theft in the area, he photographed the vehicle with his phone and continued driving. After a few hundred meters, he discovered that the quad bike was following him, and two masked men signaled him to stop and got off their vehicle. According to his testimony, the quad bike riders asked him, in an Arabic accent, why he photographed the vehicle. When he replied that the vehicle seemed suspicious because of the folded license plate, they demanded he delete the photo. When he refused, one of them pulled out a club and began beating him in the chest and back. The attack occurred in front of the grandson, who cried out: "Grandpa, what do they want from you? Grandpa, why are they hitting you?" Halfala managed to escape with his grandson on the quad bike, and the attackers chased them for about four kilometers along the stream bed, stopping only when he reached the area of a military base. His son, Yair Halfala, a fighter in the Golani Reconnaissance Unit who has performed over 700 reserve days, published the incident on social media demanding that the case not be closed due to lack of evidence. According to him, "We are not thirsty for revenge but thirsty for sovereignty." The Israel Police stated that an investigation has been opened.
