On December 15, 2023, Hatem Farwana was wounded while returning from a condolence visit on his bicycle in Gaza, and was taken to the Baptist Hospital, then the occupation took him during a night raid. Since then, his trace has been lost. A video recently emerged documenting the moment of his injury, renewing hope for his family, who await news of his fate, after futile contact with the Red Cross and unconfirmed reports of his presence in a prison.

On December 15, 2023, Hatem Samir Farwana left his wife and children's residence after offering condolences for the death of his father-in-law, heading home on his bicycle. On Al-Thalathini Street in Gaza City, he was targeted by Israeli fire and wounded in his right foot, then people took him to the Arab Al-Ahli Hospital (the Baptist) in the Zaytoun neighborhood. That same night, according to his father Samir Farwana's account, occupation forces stormed the hospital and took all those inside, including Hatem. Since then, his trace has been lost. Years later, a video clip emerged documenting the moment of his injury and fall, renewing the family's hope in searching for him. The family contacted the Red Cross but received no response, and heard unconfirmed news of his name being on a list in one of the prisons. Hatem, born on November 22, 1977, is the fourth son of Samir Farwana among ten children, and has a wife and children. The family still awaits the truth of his fate, clinging to hope.
