Harsh Condemnation in Settlement of Siege on Qusra - Against Ben Gvir: "The Police Understand the Commander's Spirit"

Head of the Beit El Council, Shai Alon, sharply criticized the siege imposed by settlers on the Palestinian village of Qusra, calling it "irreversible damage" to the State of Israel and to the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria. In an interview with ynet's studio, Alon also referred to the remarks of the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who called those involved "Jewish terrorists." Alon said he knows Huckabee well and that he is the most pro-Israel ambassador there has been, so one must understand there is a real problem. He placed responsibility for the phenomenon on the political echelon, noting that those responsible for the "lost youth" are in the areas of Limor Son Har Melech and Itamar Ben Gvir, who are not pressing hard enough. Alon refrained from placing responsibility on Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, claiming that the core of the failure is in enforcement, in the Israel Police, which is not acting enough on the issue. He praised the IDF's activity and said that the heads of local councils in Judea and Samaria are a united front against these phenomena. Regarding the possibility of reinstating administrative orders, he said it is a possible tool but not the only solution. He called for stripping the uniforms from reserve soldiers who participated in prayers with the rioters. Head of the Binyamin Council and Chairman of the Yesha Council, Israel Gantz, said the events are serious and not our way, and there is no justification for violence against uninvolved individuals or security forces. He called on the government to cancel the Oslo Accords.
