Dozens of Haredim from the Jerusalem Faction attacked an activist outside a draft conference in Jerusalem this evening, trying to break into his taxi until he was rescued by police. Dozens of Haredim from the Jerusalem Faction attacked an activist who participated in a conference for drafting Haredim held on Jaffa Street in Jerusalem this evening (Tuesday). The rioters tried to break into the taxi into which the activist, one of the conference organizers, had entered, until police summoned to the scene rescued him. The conference was also attended by Brig. Gen. (res.) Ofer Winter. On Sunday, United Torah Judaism faction chairman Yitzhak Goldknopf harshly criticized the Prime Minister, declaring that his faction would go after the elections only with someone who would regulate the status of yeshiva students and kollel students. Opposition leaders also attacked Netanyahu, calling his remarks a 'political spin.' According to Goldknopf, Netanyahu's words 'confirm what was clear to the party from the first moment' – Netanyahu does not intend to regulate the status of yeshiva students and bring a draft law, which led United Torah Judaism to leave the government. In addition to Goldknopf, opposition party leaders also criticized Netanyahu. Chairman of the 'Together' party, Naftali Bennett, said in response that Netanyahu 'thinks the serving public is stupid.' Bennett wrote on X that 'Netanyahu has been abusing them for four years – and thinks he will make them forget it in 90 days. After four years in which he has been preventing the drafting of Haredim, ignoring the Chief of Staff's warnings and the cries of reservists seeking reinforcements – Netanyahu thinks this time the people of Israel will believe him.'
