Hundreds of Haredim took part this evening (Thursday) in a solidarity march for 63 Haredim who were recently detained on suspicion of involvement in a riot outside the home of Supreme Court Deputy President Justice Noam Solberg. The march included a car procession from Beit Shemesh to Jerusalem, followed by a foot march to Shabbat Square. Participants held signs reading 'We will never serve in the army of the enemy' and shouted slurs at police officers who arrived at the scene. Three Haredi soldiers serving in the Netzah Yehuda battalion were caught in the area of the march and were attacked by the crowd. The original violent incidents occurred on June 3, when dozens of Haredi protesters arrived at Solberg's home in Alon Shvut to protest Haredi conscription, causing damage to the house and car, breaking windows and utensils, and throwing pamphlets with inscriptions against the judge. The judge's wife described the damage as a 'pogrom.' Following the riot, 63 suspects were arrested, but only four were indicted and most were released.
