Haniyeh's Successor Offers Condolences for Martyrs of the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasayna Families

Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas's political bureau, on Tuesday offered condolences to the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasayna families following the burial of 112 martyrs recovered from under the rubble of a house in the al-Sabra neighborhood of Gaza City, after they had remained under the debris since the Israeli occupation's bombing of the site during the war on the Strip. Al-Hayya said the martyrs represent "a living testament to the atrocity of the crimes committed by the occupation against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip," considering that the scene of the burial of dozens of coffins for men, women, and children embodies the scale of the "crime of erasing and exterminating families." He added that the continuation of these crimes places the international community before its responsibilities, calling for an end to the "open massacre" and accountability for those responsible. On Tuesday, Gaza City witnessed a solemn mass funeral for the martyrs of the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasayna families, one of the largest funeral processions the Strip has seen since the outbreak of the war, amid wide popular participation and moving scenes of grief and loss. According to local sources, the bodies buried were recovered from a single site in the al-Sabra neighborhood, where their owners were killed in an Israeli strike that targeted an entire residential block over its residents' heads on November 22, 2023. The sources indicated that the number of victims from the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasayna families at that site reached about 308 martyrs and missing, in one of the bloodiest massacres left by the Israeli bombing on the Gaza Strip.
