Hamas welcomes "BRICS" positions supporting Palestinian rights

Hamas welcomed the positions expressed in the "New Delhi Declaration 2026" issued by the 18th BRICS summit, which support the Palestinian cause and affirm the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. The movement praised the declaration's support for establishing an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, its call for full UN membership for Palestine, and its rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians. It also commended the declaration's condemnation of using starvation as a method of warfare and targeting civilians.

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) welcomed the positions expressed in the "New Delhi Declaration 2026" issued by the 18th BRICS summit, which support the Palestinian cause. In a press statement on Sunday, Hamas praised the declaration's affirmation of support for establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital, its call for Palestine to obtain full membership in the United Nations, and its rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians, whether temporary or permanent, or any geographical or demographic change in the Gaza Strip. The movement also commended the BRICS countries' affirmation of the need to end the illegal occupation, reject unilateral actions aimed at changing the legal and historical status of occupied Jerusalem, and respect the sanctity of its holy sites. Hamas further praised the declaration's condemnation of using starvation as a method of warfare, targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure, obstructing the delivery of humanitarian aid, or politicizing and militarizing its provision, as well as its steadfast support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and its UN mandate. The movement expressed its appreciation to the BRICS countries for these positions, calling for them to be translated into practical steps that contribute to stopping the occupation's violations and ending it.
