Hamas mourns thinker Abdullah al-Khabbas

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on Wednesday mourned the Palestinian thinker, linguist, writer, and preacher Dr. Abdullah Awad al-Khabbas, who died at dawn today in the Jordanian capital Amman at the age of 73 after a long illness. The movement issued a condolence statement affirming that the deceased was one of the most prominent figures in thought, language, literature, and preaching, and spent most of his life in the fields of science and education, leaving a distinguished scientific and cultural legacy through his writings, lectures, and contributions to the development of educational curricula. The deceased held a number of educational positions in Jordan, including acting director of the curricula department at the Ministry of Education for about a decade, and also served as rapporteur for the national team supervising Arabic language textbooks, contributing to curriculum preparation and the upbringing of generations of students. Dr. al-Khabbas hailed from the Palestinian village of Qibya, which witnessed a massacre in 1953, and Palestine remained present in his thought, writings, and lectures, as he devoted part of his efforts to introducing its history and consolidating its place in the consciousness of generations. The movement affirmed that the deceased left a firm mark in the fields of thought, language, and education, extending sincere condolences to his family, relatives, students, and admirers, asking God to envelop him in His vast mercy.
