Thus, Hamas hopes to retain a significant portion of its weapons despite ongoing negotiations about the future of the Gaza Strip. The group's leadership does not intend to comply with demands for full disarmament. Against this backdrop, US President Donald Trump stated that he had reached mutual understanding with Israel regarding the transition to the second phase of the settlement plan, proposing to resolve the issue through a special 'Peace Council'. Trump also claims that Hamas has expressed readiness to hand over weapons to a committee of technocrats. However, Israel has repeatedly stated that it sees no signs of Hamas's readiness to give up weapons. Additionally, the Saudi channel Al Hadath reported that the US administration allegedly gave Hamas assurances that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would not be able to derail the implementation of the agreement providing for the withdrawal of IDF units from the Gaza Strip.
