A bilateral meeting was held in the Egyptian capital Cairo between the Hamas movement and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, headed on the Hamas side by political bureau member Hussam Badran, and on the Democratic Front side by its Secretary-General Fahd Suleiman. The two sides discussed political developments, electoral entitlements, and ways to enhance joint national action. They emphasized the importance of continuing coordination and joint work, strengthening national unity, dealing with legislative elections, and restructuring the National Council by consensus on democratic foundations, considering this a gateway to rebuilding the Palestinian political system. Both sides stressed the need to end exclusion and unilateralism, confront challenges, and work to form a national electoral framework that includes various forces and factions. They clarified that the proposed framework should be based on a consensual national program away from quotas, to enhance the resilience of the Palestinian people and confront the risks of displacement and killing. Hamas and the Democratic Front affirmed their continued study of participation options and consultation with national forces.
