Hamas and Islamic Jihad leadership meet in Cairo
A delegation from Hamas leadership, headed by Zaher Jabarin, met with Islamic Jihad leadership, headed by Ziad al-Nakhalah, in Cairo. Both sides emphasized developing joint work and unified national positions, the need to compel the occupation to stop aggression and fully withdraw from Gaza, and to begin early recovery. They also called for the speedy entry of the national committee to manage Gaza. A phone call took place between al-Nakhalah and Khalil al-Hayya to confirm support for the people and to stop the war.
A delegation from the leadership of the Hamas movement, headed by the head of the movement in the West Bank, Zaher Jabarin, met with the leadership of the Islamic Jihad movement, headed by Secretary-General Ziad al-Nakhalah, in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. A statement issued by Hamas on Saturday said the meeting discussed developing joint work and unified national positions, and making efforts to protect the Palestinian people and restore their legitimate rights. The attendees stressed the need to compel the occupation to stop all forms of aggression, killing, and assassinations, to fully withdraw from the Gaza Strip, to begin early recovery steps, and to bring in all the needs of citizens, calling for the speedy entry of the national committee to manage Gaza and assume its responsibilities. The meeting also discussed the escalating situation in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and what the statement described as the occupation's crimes and accelerated Judaization operations, and its intensifying crimes against prisoners, amid international silence. In this context, a phone call took place between al-Nakhalah and the head of Hamas's political bureau, Khalil al-Hayya, stressing the need to support the people and stop the aggressive war.
