Grenade exploded as resident stood behind the door: evidence leading to indictment of two young men

The Central District Attorney's Office filed an indictment against Yoav Gazit (20) from Lod and Ziv Bachar (23) from Modi'in for three criminal missions in central Israel within nine days. According to the indictment, Gazit threw a fragmentation grenade at a building door in Rishon LeZion, set fire to an off-road vehicle in Netanya, and threw a stun grenade in Ramat Gan. Evidence includes DNA, cell tower data, and wiretaps.

The Central District Attorney's Office today (Wednesday) filed an indictment against Yoav Gazit, 20, from Lod, and Ziv Bachar, 23, from Modi'in, for a series of offenses committed in central Israel within nine days. According to the indictment, Bachar drove the vehicle and waited in it, while Gazit, his face covered, carried out the acts. The first incident occurred on July 14 in Rishon LeZion, when Gazit tried to open the door of a residential building, and when he failed, he threw a fragmentation grenade at it. At that time, a resident stood behind the door with her dog. The grenade exploded, causing damage, soot, and smoke. About a week later, the two were recorded filling a bottle with gasoline at a gas station in Lod, then drove to Netanya, where Gazit set fire to an RZR off-road vehicle that burned completely. Two days later, they arrived at a residential building in Ramat Gan, where Gazit threw a stun grenade at the entrance. About ten minutes later, the two were arrested, and in their vehicle were found another grenade, black clothes, a veil, and gloves. The evidence includes vehicle documentation near the scenes, cell tower data, Waze searches, DNA findings of Gazit on the stun grenade, and a wiretap in which the two are heard discussing some of the acts. Gazit remained silent, and Bachar confirmed he drove Gazit but claimed he did not know what he was doing. The prosecution requested to keep them in custody until the end of proceedings, citing "great dangerousness, complete lack of fear, and contempt for human life and property."
