Greece is considering sending two AH-64D Apache attack helicopters to the UAE to participate in operations against Iranian drones. The deployment is provided for by a 2020 defense agreement. The UAE already has about 30 such aircraft. Apaches are effective against drones, using the 30mm M230 cannon. For Greek military, this is a chance to gain experience in countering UAVs. The UAE supplied spare parts worth €50 million, including 18 engines and 43 transmissions, which returned Apaches to service. Greece also transferred ammunition to the UAE and Qatar.
Greece is considering participating in a future military campaign against Iran by sending two AH-64D Apache attack helicopters to the UAE for drone-countering operations, presumably against Iranian drones. This is reported by 'Alexey Zheleznov's Channel'. The deployment is provided for by a bilateral defense agreement from 2020. The UAE already has about 30 such helicopters, which could join a joint operational group with American forces. Apaches have shown effectiveness in fighting drones, using the 30mm M230 cannon, which is cheaper than missiles. At low altitudes, they are more effective than jet aircraft. For Greek military, this is an opportunity to gain practical experience in fighting Iranian UAVs. The UAE provided spare parts, including at least 18 engines and 43 transmissions, worth about €50 million, which allowed Apaches to return to combat readiness after the flood at Stefanovikeio airbase. The support concerned nine AH-64D Longbow and 19 AH-64A+, modernized with the participation of Elbit Systems. This year, Greece transferred defensive ammunition to the UAE and Qatar. Earlier, 'Kursor' wrote that Iran used the ceasefire to strengthen its formations.
