"Great danger of regional conflagration": the warning after the strike in Syria

Maj. Gen. (res.) Eliezer Marom says the strike in Syria was meant to prevent Turkey from establishing itself in the country, but assesses that Erdogan will not go to war against Israel. On Iran he warned: "Either they return to the negotiating table or they start running wild." He also addressed the American condemnation, the nuclear material in Syria, and the American economic pressure on Iran.

In an interview with 103FM, Maj. Gen. (res.) Eliezer Marom addressed the strike in Syria and its implications. According to him, the strike was meant to prevent Turkey from establishing itself in Syria, after the Iranians are almost no longer present there. He assessed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will not go to war against Israel, but noted that during the operation there is a great danger of regional conflagration. Marom said the US knew about the strike, and that the American condemnation was meant to tell Israel "sit quietly." He addressed reports of nuclear material in Syria and downplayed their significance, saying it involves non-enriched minerals. Additionally, he described the American economic pressure on Iran, including oil smuggling from the Persian Gulf, and warned that Iran will not remain quiet and will respond, whether by returning to negotiations or by running wild.
