According to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ogunmbo was caught with dozens of bags of cannabis, each weighing 90 grams, which she sold to customers. During questioning, she said she began dealing after losing her grocery store in a fire. Her daughter, who lives in Laos, was also arrested on suspicion of transferring the drugs to her and providing a regular supply every four days. Ogunmbo was released on bail to her home due to her advanced age, and the agency's director, Mohammed Marwa, argued there was no justification for keeping her in custody. The case joins a broader crackdown by Nigerian authorities against drug trafficking and distribution, including arrests, raids, and operations against smuggling routes.
