Government Approves: This is Israel's New Ambassador to Colombia

The government approved the appointment of Vivian Aizen as Israel's ambassador to Colombia, as part of a move to restore relations after two years of disconnection. Diplomatic relations will be fully renewed on August 7, when Colombia will open an embassy in Jerusalem.

The Israeli government approved today (Sunday) the proposal of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar to appoint Vivian Aizen as Israel's ambassador to Colombia. The appointment is part of a broad move to restore diplomatic relations between the countries, following a prolonged disconnection that began in 2024 against the backdrop of the war in Gaza. Since June 2024, no ambassadors have served in Bogotá and Jerusalem. Following talks between Sa'ar and Colombia's president-elect, Abelardo de la Espriella, it was agreed to fully renew relations after the president's inauguration on August 7, including the opening of a Colombian embassy in Jerusalem. Aizen currently serves as ambassador to North Macedonia, and previously served in London, Brussels, and Chile. Also approved was the appointment of Nisan Amador as ambassador to Croatia and additionally to North Macedonia.
