Good news: Israel to massively upgrade its railways
Israel has approved a major expansion of the coastal railway between Carmel Beach and Shfayim. The project will cut travel time between Haifa and Tel Aviv to 30 minutes and increase capacity to 30,000 passengers per hour. Four tracks will be added, including high-speed ones up to 250 km/h. A new station will replace Binyamina. Transport Minister Miri Regev said it will significantly improve transportation.
Israel has approved the start of a major expansion of the coastal railway on the section between Carmel Beach and Shfayim stations. The project, to be carried out by the Ministry of Transport after approval by the National Infrastructure Committee, is expected to reduce travel time between Haifa and Tel Aviv to about 30 minutes for high-speed trains. The plan includes expanding to four tracks: two for high-speed trains (up to 250 km/h) and two for suburban service. The line's capacity will grow to 30,000 passengers per hour in each direction during peak times. A new station will also be built near the intersection with Highway 4, replacing the Binyamina station. Transport Minister Miri Regev said the new line will significantly change travel between the north and the center of the country. By 2040, authorities expect to increase the number of trips on the network to 300 million per year.
