Good news for drivers in the Sharon region: A new bridge will be built to bypass traffic jams on the Coastal Highway
The Tel Aviv District Planning Committee has signed an authorization for the construction of the 'Hozey HaMedina' interchange (also known as the 'Harav Mechar' interchange) along the Coastal Highway. The project aims to connect the employment zones of Herzliya and Ramat HaSharon and reduce congestion on the Shivat HaKochavim axis. The arched bridge will include bike paths, a shaded promenade, and a public transit lane. Thanks to the 'Road Diet' model, dozens of dunams will be freed up for urban development.
The Tel Aviv District Planning Committee has signed an official authorization for the construction of the 'Hozey HaMedina' interchange (also known as the 'Harav Mechar' interchange) along the Coastal Highway (Highway 2). This transportation project is intended to connect the growing employment zone in northern Glilot in Ramat HaSharon with the Herzliya Pituach employment zone and the coastal strip, thereby providing an alternative that will reduce the heavy traffic congestion at the HaSira interchange and on the Shivat HaKochavim axis. At the center of the project, an innovative arched bridge will be built over the Coastal Highway. Alongside vehicle lanes, the bridge will include a designated bike path, wide sidewalks, and a shaded promenade. On the lower level of the Coastal Highway, a dedicated public transit lane will be paved from the HaSira interchange to Glilot. The project, promoted by Netivei Ayalon and the Israel Land Authority, uses the 'Road Diet' model, which saves space through compact planning. Thanks to this design, dozens of dunams have been freed from the original road alignment, which will be allocated for future urban development and open public spaces.
