Yair Golan, leader of the Democrats party, warned in an interview with ynet that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may be interested in creating a security crisis for political purposes. According to Golan, such a crisis could be used as a basis for postponing elections or interfering in the electoral process. He called for early preparation for attempts to sabotage the democratic process and achieving such a large and unequivocal result that no one could question the will of the voters. Golan called the upcoming elections "Israel's second war of independence." He sharply criticized the Likud candidate list, calling the party responsible for the October 7 massacre, the plundering of the treasury, and the judicial reform, and ruled out forming a national unity government with Likud. Golan also opposed including ultra-Orthodox parties in the future coalition but did not rule out the Arab party Ra'am, noting the loyalty of its leader Mansour Abbas. Golan named Gadi Eisenkot as the most likely next prime minister, emphasizing that the Democrats will determine who receives their support.
