An unusual indictment filed against a couple from Haifa, Eliran (39) and Sivan (36) Buchbut, reveals how they exploited their young children, aged one, eight, and nine, to carry out an extensive shoplifting spree in Eilat stores. According to the indictment, the two committed 15 thefts totaling more than 100,000 shekels, using methods of distraction and removing security tags from items. In one case, at a duty-free store in the Ice Mall, Sivan stood at the checkout paying for items while Eliran sent one of the children to bring him perfume from the shelf, which he then transferred to a bag. They fled without paying. The thefts included items from various stores, including glasses worth 42,779 shekels, perfumes worth about 8,320 shekels, and other items. The police gathered evidence from security cameras, conducted searches in the hotel room and the family's home in Haifa, and filed an indictment that includes a list of 25 witnesses. The father was arrested until the end of legal proceedings.
