Gilad Erdan: 'There will be unions and changes before the elections'

Gilad Erdan, former Israeli ambassador to the UN, who announced last week the formation of a new party together with Yuli Edelstein, said this morning (Sunday) in an interview with 103FM that he estimates that until the closing of the lists there will be more unions and changes. According to him, "It is not true that there are only four or five seats in this area. According to all the studies and checks, we are talking about an order of magnitude of ten seats." Erdan confirmed that he received a direct approach from a senior figure in the Prime Minister's circle, but made clear that he does not intend to reveal details, and that "it is one of the people closest to the Prime Minister." He stressed that the offer included a high slot in the Likud, but he refuses: "Not the place and not the position." Erdan addressed the criticism that he serves as a "proxy" of Netanyahu, and said that he has been a right-wing man since the struggle against the disengagement from Gush Katif. He noted that the decision to leave the Likud after thirty years was difficult, and that he wants to lead a change so that there will be a broad Zionist government, while emphasizing the issue of equality in the burden.
