FIFA's voting system, where each association has one vote, gives Infantino an advantage as he enjoys cross-continental support from smaller associations in Africa, Oceania, and South America that receive increased development budgets from him. The nomination deadline is set for November 18, but no candidate of stature has emerged so far. Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has clarified he has no intention to run, and CONCACAF president Victor Montagliani has also withdrawn. The European opposition is considering an alternative move to change the corporate governance structure and decentralize presidential powers. The elections are expected on March 18, 2027, at the organization's congress in Rabat, Morocco.
