Gaza players return in Am'ari shirt in 'Cup of a Thousand Martyrs'

The name of the Am'ari Youth Center returns to the forefront in the 'Cup of a Thousand Martyrs' tournament, with 8 players from the Gaza Strip participating in the team's starting lineup, in a scene that combines sports, national, and humanitarian dimensions. Am'ari is in the second group of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate, within the tournament that is witnessing wide participation after a 3-year hiatus.

The name of the Am'ari Youth Center returns to the forefront in the 'Cup of a Thousand Martyrs' tournament, not only as one of the clubs of the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate participating, but through a group of Gaza players who have previously worn the Am'ari shirt. Am'ari was placed in the second group alongside Qabiya, Al-Shurta, Ein Yabrud, and Na'lin, within the tournament that is witnessing wide participation after football activity was suspended for nearly three years. Gaza players constitute two-thirds of the Am'ari team on the field, numbering 8: Khaled Mahdi, Talal Jundiya, Iyad Abu Ghurqud, Hazem Shakhshak, Basel Al-Ashqar, Hammam Abu Hasanein, Hazem Abu Shanab, and Mu'taz Al-Hourani, all of whom are in the starting lineup. The relationship between Am'ari and Gaza players dates back to 2008, when the club contracted with 5 players based on the recommendation of coach Ghassan Al-Balaawi. Since that year, the Am'ari lineup has never been without Gaza players, and more than 20 players from the Strip have played in its ranks. Am'ari was founded in 1953 and won the Palestinian League title.
