Gallant reveals how Netanyahu misled the US in the war with Iran
Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant stated that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a strategic mistake by convincing Donald Trump to focus on the unrealistic goal of regime change in Iran instead of eliminating its nuclear program. According to Gallant, this led to a loss of US support and missed a historic opportunity to remove the nuclear threat.
Former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant revealed on the program "Meeting the Press" how, in his view, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu misled the US in the war with Iran. Gallant said that Netanyahu, together with the head of the Mossad, proposed to Donald Trump an unrealistic plan for regime change in Tehran instead of focusing on eliminating Iran's nuclear program. As a result, Air Force resources were spent on attacks against Basij forces, while nuclear facilities remained untouched. US support waned when it became clear the regime was not collapsing, and Washington's attention shifted to the Strait of Hormuz and diplomacy. Gallant called this a serious blunder that caused a historic opportunity to eliminate the nuclear threat to be missed. He also defended the IDF Chief of Staff, who came under attack from the government, urging support for him.
