The city of Khan Younis witnessed, the day before yesterday (Friday), a massive funeral for the commander of the Khan Younis Brigade in the Al-Qassam Brigades, martyr Muhammad Abd al-Salam al-Yazuri, who was assassinated by Israel last Thursday evening. Thousands of citizens participated in the procession that marched through the city's streets, carrying the body on their shoulders and chanting slogans denouncing the occupation's crimes and others affirming adherence to the resistance. The funeral prayer was held at the Imam al-Shafi'i Mosque before the body was laid to rest. Participants in the funeral, including Ibrahim al-Masri and Mu'min al-Halis, considered that the Israeli assassinations increase the Palestinians' adherence to the resistance. For his part, writer and political analyst Adnan al-Sabah saw that the scene represents an indicator of adherence to the resistance and a political message that attempts to weaken it have not succeeded in separating it from its popular base. The article mentioned the continued Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement signed in October 2025, and cited data from the Gaza Ministry of Health on the rise in the number of martyrs since the beginning of the war on October 7, 2023, to 73,783 martyrs.
