From Meeting to Holding Cell: Lawyer Suspected of Trying to Smuggle Drugs to Prisoner
A lawyer from central Israel was arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a substance suspected to be drugs to a prisoner at the prison, during an operational activity by the Israel Prison Service (IPS). The arrest took place during a visit, and the seized substance was transferred for testing. Her detention was extended until Friday, and her name is barred from publication. A lawyer from central Israel was arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a substance suspected to be drugs to a prisoner she had come to represent. The arrest was carried out as part of an operational activity by the Israel Prison Service (IPS). According to the suspicion, during the visit she tried to introduce the prohibited substance into the prison and pass it to the inmate. The seized findings were transferred for testing and further investigation by the IPS investigation unit, in cooperation with Sdot station. After her questioning, the suspect was arrested, brought in for police investigation, and at its conclusion was jailed. This morning she was brought to court, which at the end of the hearing extended her detention until Friday. During the hearing, the court banned the publication of her name. The investigation into her case continues.
