Police arrested two suspects in vehicle thefts in the Lakhish region, as part of two separate investigations conducted by the Ashkelon and Ashdod stations. The investigations took place in recent days, and the arrests were made following intelligence and operational activity. The first suspect, a resident of Shuafat, was arrested yesterday while driving on Route 3 near the Shorak interchange, after an investigation was opened into the theft of a Kia Sportage from Ashkelon. The second suspect, an illegal resident, was arrested at the Qalqilya checkpoint during the weekend, after a stolen vehicle from Ashdod was found abandoned in the Modi'in area. The commander of the Ashdod station, Superintendent Ronen Amar, stated that this was rapid and professional activity that combined technological and intelligence capabilities. Police note that in recent period there has been a decline in the number of vehicle thefts in the southern district, alongside an increase in solving cases.
