Freeze on All Fronts – Until After Elections in Israel and the US

President Trump has decided on a pause in negotiations and military action against Iran, to last at least until after the US midterm elections on November 8, while continuing economic pressure and a naval blockade. Israel is silent and agrees with the strategy. In Gaza, coordinated projects are underway for an experimental residential neighborhood and a camp for the stabilization force, unrelated to the 15-point roadmap.

US President Donald Trump and his team have concluded that negotiations with the Tehran regime will not yield results in the near term, and therefore decided on a drastic change of direction: a pause in the political and military channel, while continuing economic pressure through enforcement of sanctions and a naval blockade. The pause is expected to last until after the US midterm elections on November 8, after which a new assessment will be conducted. Exceptionally, the US will allow the export of oil and gas from the Middle East, including through the Strait of Hormuz, provided that no transit fees are paid to Iran. The change stems from four reasons: the desire to preserve the Republican majority in Congress, Iran's identification of American weakness, the economic situation in Iran, and the desire to stockpile munitions.
