Former Yemeni Foreign Minister to Kan News: "Israel can help in dealing with the Houthis"

Former Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani said in an interview with Kan News that Israel has an important role in a broad coalition against the Houthis, based on the Trump administration's vision and the Abraham Accords. He sharply criticized Saudi policy in Yemen, accusing it of weakening the anti-Houthi camp and transferring funds to the Houthis, and called for handing over management of the Yemeni file to the Southern Transitional Council forces.

Former Yemeni Foreign Minister Khaled al-Yamani said in an exclusive interview with Kan News that Israel has an important role it can play in dealing with the Houthi threat, within a broad coalition based on the Trump administration's vision for establishing peace and stability in the region, relying on the Abraham Accords and the concept of 'burden sharing' among the United States' allies. Al-Yamani, who served as foreign minister in the Saudi-backed Yemeni government from 2018-2019, sharply criticized Saudi policy in Yemen. He accused Saudi Arabia of responsibility for the deterioration and catastrophic situation in Yemen, and of transferring hundreds of millions of dollars to the Houthis during the current year, which he claimed were used to purchase weapons and military equipment. He called for 'taking the management of the Yemeni file away from Saudi Arabia' and handing it over to the Southern Transitional Council, the anti-Houthi force backed by the United Arab Emirates, where he serves as an advisor to its president. Al-Yamani claimed that Saudi actions against the council destroyed operational achievements, including cutting off Houthi supply lines and ties with al-Qaeda and al-Shabaab. He warned that continued reliance on Saudi Arabia endangers maritime shipping routes and global security.
