Former Netanyahu office employee: 'He humiliated the Likud'

On the day of the Likud primaries, former prime minister's office employee Edna Halbani sharply criticized Netanyahu, accusing him of humiliating the party and destroying its former image. She compared him to past leaders, including Begin and Shamir, and called the last four years the most terrible in Israel's history.

On the day the Likud primaries opened, Edna Halbani, a former senior employee of the Prime Minister's Office who worked as a visit coordinator for 50 years, issued sharp criticism of Benjamin Netanyahu. In a post on social media platform X, she stated that Netanyahu 'humiliated the Likud,' comparing him to previous party leaders, including the late Menachem Begin, Yitzhak Shamir, Dan Meridor, David Levy, Moshe Arens, and Benny Begin. Halbani accused the prime minister of ruling the party for 30 years to maintain power, allowing his wife and son to effectively control the state, and bringing unworthy people into the party. She called the last four years 'the most terrible, dreadful years in the history of the Israeli people,' mentioning Holocaust Remembrance Day, the massacre, the failed judicial reform, the failed war with Iran, and thousands of dead. The primaries began on Monday morning: about 150,000 party members are voting at 107 polling stations, with final results to be announced at Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv from 9:00 PM.
