Ben-Gvir promised to do everything to introduce the death penalty for terrorists, calling it one of his main goals. Earlier, the Knesset supported the corresponding bill by 62 votes to 48. The initiator was the party "Jewish Power," which received support from Shas. The new norms toughen penalties: military courts in Judea and Samaria will be able to impose death sentences for murders committed as part of terrorist attacks, and the sentence can be commuted to life imprisonment only under exceptional circumstances. Inside Israel, the death penalty by hanging or life imprisonment is provided for those who committed murder with the aim of denying the existence of the state. The Prime Minister will be able to delay the execution of the sentence for a maximum of 180 days. The law also prohibits releasing those sentenced to death in prisoner exchanges. Earlier, Hamas opposed the bill, saying it contradicts the Geneva Convention.
