Former England international and sports broadcaster Gary Lineker has announced his participation in a charity campaign through a public auction, offering his signed shirt worn with Japanese club Nagoya Grampus, with all proceeds going to support a charitable fund providing scholarships for Palestinian students from the Gaza Strip who have secured opportunities to study at British universities. The initiative is part of the 'Scholarships for Gaza' campaign launched by Phoenix Space, running for ten days with the participation of over 20 British figures from sports, arts, and media, who have donated personal items. The campaign aims to cover tuition and living costs for students who have received offers from British universities but need full funding to travel and enroll. Lineker had to end his contract with the BBC due to his pro-Palestinian stance. According to organizers, over 200 Palestinian students have received unconditional offers from global universities, but lack of funding prevents them. The British government has facilitated access for students from Gaza if they have fully funded scholarships. Estimates indicate that the war has destroyed or severely damaged about 95% of higher education institutions in Gaza.
