Former 8200 Commander: The Alliance That Could Form - and Worry Iran

Brig. Gen. (res.) Hanan Gefen, former commander of Unit 8200, said in an interview with Ido Tauber that the United States has lost its power in the Middle East and that President Donald Trump repeatedly falls into the Iranian 'trap'. According to him, Iran has exploited Trump's conduct time and again, despite being in severe internal crises. Gefen called on Israel to join a security alliance with Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other Gulf states, as they know they must defend against the Iranian ballistic missile. He described a new reality in the region, where Gulf states are examining the US conduct towards Iran, Hamas, and Hezbollah. Gefen emphasized that Israel must take care of itself and build regional cooperation, in light of the changes in the balance of power.
