Doctors have shared foods and eating habits that can help prevent the development of diabetes at the prediabetes stage. Dietitian and endocrinologist Natalya Samoylenko explains that prediabetes is a reversible process, and to stop the progression to diabetes, it is necessary to adjust lifestyle and diet. The first recommendation is to establish a regular meal schedule: breakfast, lunch, and dinner at set times. The diet should include fiber (vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts, fruits), healthy fats (fish, avocado, olive oil), and protein (lean meat, fish, eggs). Factors affecting blood sugar levels include unbalanced diet, low physical activity, lack of sleep, genetic predisposition, comorbidities, certain medications, and chronic stress. Symptoms that require attention include constant hunger, excessive thirst, frequent urination, weight gain, fatigue, and slow wound healing. For prevention, regular physical activity (30 minutes of walking a day), avoiding sweets and processed foods, sleeping 7-8 hours, and stress management are recommended.
