Following 'Yahalom HaKrav' appeal: urgent Knesset debate on recognition procedures in medical committees for IDF disabled veterans

Following an appeal by the 'Yahalom HaKrav' organization to the Knesset, the Labor and Welfare Committee will hold a special urgent debate on Wednesday regarding the conduct of medical committees and recognition procedures in the Rehabilitation Department of the Ministry of Defense. The organization 'Yahalom HaKrav' raises serious claims about the conduct of medical committees, particularly regarding what they define as a policy of granting temporary disability status across the board. According to them, IDF disabled veterans are forced to deal with prolonged procedures, repeated committees, and uncertainty about their status and rights. The debate was scheduled after the organization sent an official letter to the Knesset demanding an urgent debate on the matter, and they say that following the appeal, an agreement was reached between coalition and opposition factors to advance the debate. The organization stated: 'We will continue to do everything so that IDF disabled veterans receive everything they deserve, out of pure concern and without interests.' The debate is expected to focus on the issue of temporary disability and the way the Rehabilitation Department determines disability degrees for IDF wounded. The issue has become particularly significant since the outbreak of the war, due to the increase in the number of wounded and those dealing with physical and mental injuries who are required to undergo recognition procedures and committees.
