Israel Railways announced a temporary suspension of service at Ben Gurion Airport and Modi'in stations over two upcoming weekends, as part of works to connect the 431 railway line to the national rail network. The shutdown will begin on Thursday at 22:00 and continue until Sunday at 04:00 in the morning, on the weekends of August 27-29 and September 3-5. During the shutdown, a free shuttle service will be operated at the affected stations. Additionally, between August 20-22, there will be significant changes to train traffic on various lines in the north, including temporary closures of stations in Nahariya, Acre, Karmiel, and others. The 431 railway project includes laying 30 km of double, electrified, and new track, constructing bridges, digging tunnels, and building new stations. The longest bridge in the country, 3.5 km long, was built as part of the project. The line is expected to open in 2027 or 2028 and is intended to ease traffic congestion on Highway 1 and the Tel Aviv-Jerusalem fast rail line.
