First West Nile fever death this year recorded in Israel

Since the start of the season, 10 cases have been confirmed, with three patients remaining in hospital in good condition. The virus is transmitted through mosquito bites, with an incubation period of 2 to 14 days. Infected mosquitoes have been found in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Tayibe, Tire, Qalansawe, and the Lev HaSharon Regional Council. The Ministry of Environmental Protection has instructed local authorities, especially the Tamar Regional Council, to strengthen preventive measures.
