The first flight will depart from Newark to Ben Gurion Airport on September 8, and the following day the first flight will depart from Ben Gurion to Newark. This step is expected to increase seat supply and expand competition on flights to the United States. Meanwhile, the Dutch airline KLM will resume operations on the Tel Aviv-Amsterdam route on August 25, with a technical stopover in Larnaca, Cyprus. Tickets went on sale starting August 6. Israir has received approval from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to operate flights to the United States and is expected to submit a formal application to the FAA during August to operate flights to New York. The Lufthansa Group reports a significant expansion of its operations in Israel, with up to 67 weekly flights at Ben Gurion Airport during September, ahead of the holiday season.
