First Report: Raid in Ashkelon Exposes Gambling Den – Suspicions Point to Crime World Figure

The search was conducted following information indicating the operation of an illegal gambling venue in the city. Upon entering the premises, several suspects were found who, according to suspicion, were participating in gambling games. During the search, a computer for operating bingo games, bingo cards, cash amounts, coins, checks, and additional equipment were seized. Police assess that all findings strengthen the suspicion that this was a gambling den operating against the law. As part of the operation, the venue operator, the premises holder, and two additional participants were detained for questioning. All involved were transferred for further handling at the police station. Police suspect that behind the operation of the venue stands a senior figure in the southern crime world, who was not arrested because he was not present at the time of the raid. Deputy Commander of the Ashkelon station, Chief Inspector Doron Sasson, stated that the station operates decisively against the phenomenon of illegal gambling, which serves as fertile ground for criminal activity and harms public order.
