First Report: Murderer of Judge Adi Azar Suspected of Trying to Smuggle Prescription Pills into Prison

Yitzhak Zuziashvili, serving a life sentence for the 2004 murder of Tel Aviv District Court Judge Adi Azar, is suspected of attempting to smuggle dozens of prescription pills into Eshel Prison. The pills were hidden in a coffee can and were seized during an operation by the Southern Unit for Special Operations (YAMAZ) and prison guards. An iron bar was also confiscated. Zuziashvili has been subjected to disciplinary proceedings.

Earlier this week, YAMAZ South fighters and prison guards conducted a proactive operation at Eshel Prison, during which dozens of prescription pills were found. According to the Israel Prison Service (IPS), the pills were concealed in bags inside a coffee can, in an attempt to bring them into the prison without raising suspicion. During the operation, an iron bar was also seized, which, according to the IPS, is used as a weapon. Zuziashvili, classified as a dangerous prisoner, has been subjected to disciplinary proceedings following the incident, and the findings have been transferred for further handling.
