First Report: Eli Yishai Returns to Politics

Eli Yishai, who served as chairman of Shas for fourteen years, is returning to politics and is currently considering a connection with the new Haredi party 'Hatzibur HaHaredi'. This was first reported this evening (Wednesday) on the 'Main Edition'. The new party advocates for the real enlistment of Haredim who do not study and aims to give a voice to working Haredim. In recent times, several meetings have taken place between Yishai and party members, and the joint run is being seriously considered. The intention is also to appeal to Shas disappointments who are not satisfied with the party's conduct, as reflected in polls. However, Yishai's positions differ from Shas's current positions on the enlistment issue and many other matters. This is not Yishai's first attempt: in 2014, after being ousted from Shas, he ran in the independent party 'Yachad' in cooperation with Rabbi Mazuz, but the party received 125,000 votes and did not enter the Knesset. Now, political sources are convinced that the connection between Yishai and the new party is a winning move and they will pass the electoral threshold.
