Two young men from Ramla, in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of attempting to extort protection money from a contractor at a construction site in Moshav Shtulim. According to the suspicion, after not finding the contractor, they approached his children and threatened them. The investigation was opened following a report to the police. Officers located and arrested the suspects within a short time.
Two young residents of Ramla, in their 20s, were arrested yesterday (Tuesday) on suspicion of attempting to extort protection money from a contractor at a construction site in Moshav Shtulim. According to the suspicion, the two arrived at the site in the afternoon to demand money under threats. After not finding the contractor there, they approached his children who were at the site and tried to convey threatening messages through them. The investigation was opened following a report received by the police about threats made against the contractor, a resident of Nazareth, in connection with a construction project he owns. Officers from the Lachish District Police launched a focused operational activity, located the suspects, and arrested them within a short time. The two were transferred for questioning. The commander of the Lachish District Police, Deputy Superintendent Shahar Levi, stated that the unit operates with determination and zero tolerance against attempts to extort or harm business owners, and that anyone who tries to collect protection money will face a swift response.
